There are various branches of psychology that one can pursue and counseling psychology is one of the most preferred of these branches. A counselling Psychologist advices or guides Individuals or groups to overcome their emotional, health or career related issues. Therefore, a counseling psychologist can help an emtionally disturbed school student or identify learning disabilities in students or can give emotional advice to an adult with emtional/marital/social issues or can be a career advisor who helps students or professionals find their goals, choose a career path/ stream and course advisement etc. .
Potential work areas are: Schools, Colleges, NGO's, Hospitals etc.
In order to become a counseling psychologist, one can take up any stream in grade 11th and 12th and follow it up with a Bachelors degree(BA or B.Sc.) in Psychology/Applied Psychology. Later, one can even pursue a MA or M.Sc in Psychology/Applied Psychology and a P.Hd if desired.
It is a High Demand and High Salary profession and a must required in today's time!
